What do I know to be true?

At first, this might be an awkward and even confusing questions to some. For it simply asks you what do you know is true. It can be many simple things that some people know to something only you know by yourself. On to some things that everybody knows like the entire U.S or some people in foreign countries. Also when we think of some things being true, some are very simple. Like for example, in the Red Bull commercial they say the red bull gives you wings when you drink it but it really doesn’t. It’s just an endorsement to get consumers to buy but that gives you mad energy.

Other things that I know to be true and that’s a little more serious. Would be the GTA 4 game. Which came out on the 29th of April is a little more serious because when there were billboard saying it would come out on the 29th, it was true because when companies display something that’s coming out on a certain day, they make sure that it comes out that same day. Also because when I went to go buy the game on the day it came out, I saw people buying it which showed that it actually came out.

Lastly, a real serious thing that I know to be true would probably be an example of politics or current events. For example president bush we all know as of the whole nation knows that he is not such a great president and a great leader. We know that he hasn’t done many wise things and decisions. And we all know that to be true for sure.

What do I need from my parents?

In my particular case what I would want and I guess sort of need from my parents would have to be more freedom. I would think that my parents want to protect me a lot from many things that they think is bad and even right sometimes. I sort of have evidence. For example whenever I want go to a friend’s house, or somewhere with my friends or anybody, im always asked so many questions. Just like many kids that might have also experienced this, my parents or a parent always asks me things like who is that person you’re going with? Whenever I tell them who invited me to go to their house.

They also ask me why and what do they want u to go to their house? Sometimes, they ask me who are their parents, and even if I get to go with my friend, when I come back home, once again, im asked what I did and what happened and many more questions that sometimes they end up asking so much of that they get me confused the I end up answering wrong and have a difficult time getting them to believe that I didn’t mean that answer. Sometimes this frustrates me just like any other kid that might have a similar story. So this is mostly what I want from my parents. Its just freedom that keeps me from doing a lot more things that I don’t even want to mention because they’re long stories.

What do I want to learn from my culture?

What I would like to know more about my Mexican culture is the food. i would want to know like how Mexican food were made or how they were made up. And how it could have been passed down from generation to generation of how it was made and perfected over the centuries. One example of a perfected custom or food that has been alive since the existence of the Mexican culture is salsa other known as hot sauce. Since the Aztec or Mayan times there were this sauce that was so hot u would have to drink 3 gallons of water to calm it down.  And now it has been passed down to the generations to day that u can make that kind of sauce. And not just sauce. Also the vegetables and the fruits and all the deserts and breads.  Lastly, the thing that I would want to know about my Mexican culture would have to be the music and all the rituals that are celebrated in parts ofMexico. Like for example, the day of the dead which is mostly known as el dia de los muertos in Mexico.

I would want to know who made that festival or how it even got to be a festival that we celebrate for 1 whole day non stop. And for the music, I would want to know how they combined all the sounds of all the Mexican instruments to make very good combos with the other instruments to make ranchera or mariachi music. I would also want to know how that music got to be so popular from the olden times till now that it is still heard today on many special occasions or just played for leisure

Defining Success

i chose to define education with succes. For me, educational success is measured by what someone can attain after they have finished their schooling.  There are some things I believe someone must be able to do after they finish college in order to be considered an educational success.  For example, some things are:

The ability of a person to support themselves in society after they have completed their educational process.  In today’s world, I believe most people need to go to college and perhaps go beyond a 4-year college degree.

They must purse a Master’s or professional degree like that of a medical doctor or lawyer if they are to get paid well;

they must be able to get along with others and cooperate and collaborate with others in society to do good for others;

they must be able to communicate well with others and share ideas that will make this world a better place; and they must be responsible and act with compassion when dealing with other people.

For me, it is one thing, a good thing, for people to finish high school and go on to college and graduate there.  However, if they do not become productive members of our society in all the ways I listed above, then I do not think they can be considered an educational success.

What 3 aspects of my culture would i put in a box?

The 1st thing that I would put in my box would have to be a soccer ball. Soccer has been in Mexico’s culture since the way beginning and is considered the most popular sport and the most played in Mexico. Plus, I play it once and a while in school.  I enjoy playing it sometimes. It’s a cool fun sport.

The 2nd thing that I would put in my box would be a piñata. It is the most common thing that most young Mexican kids would want to have in their party. It’s just a great game to have when you’re having a party. You want to have fun at a party most of the time and you want to have a great time plus you want some candy and you might want to eat some sweets. So the piñata is the perfect thing to get. You’ll have a great time hitting it with a broom stick and you’ll have a great time eating all the candy that comes out.

The 3rd and final thing that I would want to put in the box would be all the Mexican food of Mexico im just kidding. All the food won’t fit in the first place, and second, it will rote. If I cant out the food in the box then I would want to at least put the entire Mexican food recipe. From the most common food the tortilla, to burritos, tacos, enchiladas, Chile reyeno, and many, many more delicious foods.

Supreme Court Case

Microsoft V. AT&T

In 2001, AT&T filed a law suit against Microsoft in the federal court in
New York saying without proof that the Microsoft® Windows® was violating on one of its patents for digitally coding and decoding speech. AT&T wanted to recover damages from Microsoft based on the copies the Windows software program made in the United States and, called a relatively obscure clause of the
U.S. patent laws that makes it an act of infringement to supply. From the
United States all or a substantial portion of the components of a patented invention

What this means is that whether Microsoft violated AT&T’s domestic patent on sophisticated speech decoding technology by sending the software overseas to be replicated and installed in its Windows operating system.

Microsoft and its supporters like Intel, Yahoo, and Amazon.com said that software is not a physical component, but intangible information. Microsoft argued that the software wasn’t technically supplied from the
United States because overseas manufacturers of its computers made copies of the software from a master disk and installed those copies into the operating system. Since the copies, and not the original software, were in the computers built somewhere, Microsoft says it can’t be considered a supplier

But AT&T argued that Microsoft’s logic is simply a way to go around the patent law and violate against the company’s patent. The company successfully convinced the trial courts and the federal circuit that software is an important component of its speech decoding technology because the invention wouldn’t work without it.

The infringement is on Article 1 section. 8, number #8 which deals with copyrights and patents. Another law infringement is on is mostly the section 35 U.S.C. 271 in the Patent Act which involves the export of components of patented inventions from the
U.S. This act was passed by Congress to keep companies from shipping components abroad for assembly in order to avoid patent claims.

In a stunning 7-1 decision, the Federal Circuit ruling that was in favor of AT&T, turned to Microsoft. The supreme court said that Microsoft’s arguments that software coupled with the device on which the software is installed cannot be considered patentable Convinced them to rule Microsoft in favor

So Microsoft won

If AT&T would’ve won, then many companies involved in the practice of sending software overseas, would’ve cost the software industry billions of dollars for past infringement.

And if AT&T won, then Microsoft would’ve owed them around 1 billion dollars.

Reflective blog about the Outsiders

I have worked in groups before but mostly with groups here in the school and with the classmates that I know. But this was the first time I worked in a group that has the people i’m working with out of the state and with the communication only being the internet through IM messaging like meebo. I believe that it was a good experience sort of a good experience for me and I don’t know about my classmates, but o think it was an okay experience. For my own personal opinion, I would say that it wasn’t such a pleasant time king in the group which I will explain later in my paragraph. There wasn’t any really favorite part that I had in the project. I would say the only kind of favorite part of this project was when we learned how to use chatting like meebo, or just working with other people, and probably making a voice thread. My least favorite part of the project was when we couldn’t agree or even contact the Canadian kids that we worked with. or especially in our group when we couldn’t reach them in any way or when they  wouldn’t respond at all when we tried to contact them, and especially when they wouldn’t upload the pictures to our deleted voicethred but finally one of the people we worked with uploaded pictures. What I would change about this though would be the order we did our assignments. What I mean by this is like that we should have been more organized so we could’ve been done earlier. But no matter how it might sound that I wasn’t that excited about this, I learned a little bit about this. I learned a little it about friendship  and how to use meebo, and lastly, I learned how to work with other people that I don’t really know or what I really mean is that I learned to work with people that I haven’t met. But yeah I learned about this, and glad this project is over. Hopefully we do something similar. But differently.

Chapters 11 & 12

Awsome we finally finished the book and once again had to choose a word. I know I already choose friendship, but im just choosing it again just because its probably the best word that describes chapters 11 & 12. in these chapters the greaser gang went to court to see if Johnny should be charged for killing Bob, and if Ponyboy, Darry, and Sodapop should be put into a boys’ home. But Ponyboy doesn’t have to speak much because his doctor told the judge about Ponyboy’s condition. The judge asks Ponyboy some questions about his home life and then forgives him of all wrongdoing and allows him to return home with his brothers. After that, Ponyboy becomes depressed. His grades go down, he loses his coordination, memory, and appetite, and he argues with Darry. Ponyboy’s English teacher, Mr. Syme, says that even though Ponyboy is failing, he can raise his grade to a C by writing an outstanding autobiographical theme. So the end is the beginning of the story. And since some of the  gang members have died, they have become closer with each other because they realized that each one of them were important to one another. Alright the end.

The Outsiders: chapters 9 & 10

Fear

I think chapters 9 and 10 were best explained by the word fear. In chapter 9 there seemed to be some fear even though it wasn’t really expressed much. when the rumble was about to begin, i believe the socs and the greasers had fear inside of them. the socs showed fear when they ran away from the rumble since they were getting pounded; especially when one of the greasers took out a busted bottle pop. I also think that darry had fear that ponyboy would get hurt during the rumble because he didn’t have the same strenght after he came back from the church in Windrixville because he looked all skinny and not in a good condition to fight. fear was also showed by the whole gang when they knew that johnny was dying and were afraid that he won’t make it and die. Also, I believe the greaser gang had fear when dally got killed by the cops when he was buffling to shoot them. So this is why i chose the word fear.

The Outsiders Chapters 7 & 8

Friendship

I chose the word friendship. i chose this word because in chapter 7, Darry, sodapop, and the rest of the gang grow a bigger friendship while johnny and ponyboy are gone, and then become heroes when they risked their lives to save those kids. talking about johnny and when they risked their lives to save those kids, Two Bit and ponyboy went to visit johnny and dally this was a sign of friendship because they wanted to visit their own friends which were more like family. the whole gang was a family. and they cared for each other. they also showed friendship when they went to buy him some things, and especially when they didn’t let the mom see johnny. That was yet another sign of friendship. Well, that is what i think of what word should fit in with chapter 7 and 8.
